JACOBSON'S ORGAN

Description : A shallow circular pit or depression, which resembles a small ulcer or punched out lesion, can sometimes be seen on the anterior cartilaginous nasal septum. This is a Jacobson's organ a vestigial olfactory organ which has no known function in humans. A Jacobson's organ should not be confused with a septal ulceration.
