THE NORMAL INFERIOR TURBINATE (LEFT)

THE NORMAL INFERIOR TURBINATE (LEFT)

Description : The inferior turbinate is the lowest and most anterior of the three scroll shaped nasal turbinates (Inferior, Middle, and Superior). Its anterior border is the first intranasal structure encountered during the rhinoscopic examination. The submucosal layer of the inferior turbinate contains erectile tissue.
The status of the nasal mucosa can be inferred from its color. Normal nasal mucous membranes have a healthy pink color and appear slightly moist.
