VASOCONSTRICTED INFERIOR TURBINATE (LEFT)

VASOCONSTRICTED INFERIOR TURBINATE (LEFT)

Description : A proper examination of the interior of the nose can not generally be performed until the inferior turbinates have been vasoconstricted to allow access into the nasal cavity. Vasoconstriction can readily be achieved by the use of a topical decongestant nasal drop or spray such as 0.1% xylometazoline hydrochloride nasal solution USP. This is the same inferior turbinate seen in the previous photograph approximately ten minutes later. Note that the front face of the inferior turbinate can now be seen posterosuperiorly.)
