NORMAL VASODILATATION OF THE INFERIOR TURBINATES
CT SCAN

Description : The erectile tissue within the nasal cavity which is located primarily in the inferior turbinates is usually in a state of partial vasodilatation. Note the size of the normal inferior turbinates in this coronal CT scan. The left middle turbinate is grossly enlarged due to the presence of an abnormal air cell (a concha bullosa) which compromises the left middle meatus.
