LONG FACE SYNDROME
[ADENOID FACIES]

Description : Hypertrophy of the nasopharyngeal pad of lymphoid tissue (the adenoids) is the commonest cause of nasal obstruction in children. The commonest presenting symptoms are chronic mouth breathing and snoring.

The most dangerous symptom is sleep apnea. Persistent mouth breathing due to nasal obstruction in childhood may result in the "long face syndrome" (previously called "adenoid faces").
