ADENOID HYPERTROPHY (ENDOSCOPIC VIEW)

Description : Enlarged adenoids extending anteriorly into and obstructing the left posterior choana are clearly seen in this endoscopic photograph of a thirty two year old male. While the adenoid tonsil usually undergoes spontaneous involution around puberty, the hypertrophy may persist into adult life. Adenoid hypertrophy in adults may be associated with an HIV positivity.
