MEDIALLY BENT UNCINATE PROCESS (LEFT)

Description : In this patient, a grossly enlarged uncinate process can be seen which has become bent (rotated) medially to such an extent that it is lying at right angles to the long axis of the nasal cavity. The medial end of the uncinate process is in actual contact with the lateral surface of the middle turbinate. Note the purulent material draining from the inferior hiatus semilunaris.
